Free MATLAB License


MATLAB is an industry-standard programming platform designed for engineers and scientists, featuring powerful tools for data analysis, visualization, and algorithm development. As a UofT student, you have free access to MATLAB and its extensive toolbox collection!

Getting Started

Follow these steps to access your free MATLAB license:

  1. Visit the UofT MATLAB Portal

  2. Look for the “GET MATLAB and Simulink” card and click “Sign in to get started”

  3. Click on “Create one” to set up your account

    ⚠️ Warning: Only use your UofT email address when creating your account
  4. You’ll be redirected to the WebLogin IDPZ screen

  5. Enter your UTORid and password

  6. Complete any two-factor authentication if required

Downloading MATLAB

Once your account is set up:

  1. On your profile page, locate the MATLAB (Individual) row with Academic use
  2. Click the downward-pointing arrow in this row
  3. Choose your preferred installation method:
    • Click the blue button to download the latest MATLAB version
    • Use the “Select Release” dropdown to choose a specific version
